daily reading 36.4 (Ephesians 5:8–12)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

Lord, one thing I ask you:
    hold in check my pride,
    as a child obedient
    at its mother's side.

    All your sons and daughters
    to your heart are dear:
    let us now and always
    trust, and never fear. Amen.

Ephesians 5:8–12

  • For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light— 9 for the fruit of the light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth— 10 testing what is pleasing to the Lord.
  • 11 Don't participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.
  • 12 For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret.
helpful notes on Ephesians 5:8–12

For yourself pray:

  • That you live in God's light for Jesus's sake

For others pray

  • That God gives your community and country good, selfless leaders

A song to listen to and ponder, as time allows
