daily reading 4.3 (Romans 2:28–29)
5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024
Our opening prayer for this week:
Christ be my leader by night as by day,
Safe through the darkness, for he is the way.
Gladly I follow, my future his care;
Darkness is daylight when Jesus is there.
Christ be my teacher in age as in youth,
Drifting or doubting, for he is the truth.
Grant me to trust him, though shifting as sand.
Doubt cannot daunt me— in Jesus I stand!
Christ be my Savior in calm as in strife;
Death cannot hold me for he is the life. Nor
darkness nor doubting nor sin and its stain Can
touch my salvation— with Jesus I reign! Amen.
Romans 2:28–29
- For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh.
- 29 On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart—by the Spirit, not the letter. That person's praise is not from people but from God.
Helpful notes on Romans 2:28–29
For yourself pray:
- That God praises you for Jesus' sake on the last day
For others pray:
- That God moves your the heart of your pastor(s), so they are interested in God's praise, not the praise of people
A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:
- Psalm 18 (YouTube, duet, "May my Rock be praised.")
