daily reading 36.1 (Ephesians 4:29–31)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

Lord, one thing I ask you:
    hold in check my pride,
    as a child obedient
    at its mother's side.

    All your sons and daughters
    to your heart are dear:
    let us now and always
    trust, and never fear. Amen.

Ephesians 4:29–31

  • No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear.
  • 30  And don't grieve God's Holy Spirit. You were sealed by him for the day of redemption.
  • 31 Let all bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice.
helpful notes on Ephesians 4:29–31

For yourself pray:

  • That you do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God

For others pray

  • That God rids your congregation of foul language and malice

A song to listen to and ponder, as time allows

  • Psalm 119 (YouTube, duet, "How blessed are those whose ways are blameless")
