daily reading 17.4 (Romans 9:25–26)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for today:

    Jesus, shepherd of the sheep,
    Who your Father’s flock does keep,
    Safe we wake, and safe we sleep,
    Guarded still by you.

    In your promise firm we stand;
    None can take us from your hand.
    Speak— we hear— at your command,
    We will follow you.

    By your blood our souls were bought;
    By your life salvation wrought;
    By your light our feet are taught,
    Lord, to follow you.

    Father, draw us to your Son;
    We with joy will follow on
    Till the work of grace is done,
    There to live with You.

    We, in robes of glory dressed,
    Join the assembly of the blest,
    Gathered to eternal rest
    In the fold with you. Amen.

Romans 9:25–26

  • As it also says in Hosea, I will call Not my People, my People, and she who is Unloved, Beloved.
  •  26 And it will be in the place where they were told, you are not my people, there they will be called sons of the living God.
Helpful notes on Romans 9:25–26

For yourself pray:

  • That God's adoption of you as his son and heir forever fills you with energy and hope

For others pray:

  • That God brings many more people in your community to trust in his Son

A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 68 (YouTube, soloist with guitar, "Let God arise.")
