daily reading 32.3 (Ephesians 2:13–15)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

    Alleluia! Sing to Jesus!
    His the scepter, his the throne.
    Alleluia! His the triumph,
    His the victory alone.
    Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion
    Thunder like a mighty flood.
    Jesus out of every nation
    Has redeemed us by his blood.

    Alleluia! Bread of heaven,
    Here on earth our food, our stay;
    Alleluia! Here the sinful
    Flee to you from day to day:
    Intercessor, Friend of sinners,
    Earth’s Redeemer, hear our plea
    Where the songs of all the sinless
    Sweep across the crystal sea.

    Alleluia! Not as orphans
    Are we left in sorrow now;
    Alleluia! He is near us,
    Faith believes, nor questions how;
    Though the cloud from sight received him
    When the forty days were o’er
    Shall our hearts forget his promise,
    “I am with you evermore”? Amen.

Ephesians 2:13–15

  • But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
  • 14 For he is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh, 15 he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations, so that he might create in himself one new man from the two, resulting in peace.
helpful notes on Ephesians 2:13–15

For yourself pray:

  • That by his Spirit in Christ Jesus God fills you with praise for his holy name

For others pray:

  • That God unites divided people whom you know

A song to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 107 (YouTube, duet, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good")
