daily reading 31.1 (Ephesians 1:18–21)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

    Praise the One who breaks the darkness
    With a liberating light;
    Praise the One who frees the prisoners,
    Turning blindness into sight.
    Praise the One who preached the gospel,
    Healing every dread disease,
    Calming storms and feeding thousands
    With the Father’s word of peace.

    Praise the One who blessed the children
    With a strong, yet gentle, word;
    Praise the One who drove out demons
    With a piercing, two-edged sword.
    Praise the One who brings cool water
    To the desert’s burning sand;
    From this well comes living water,
    Quenching thirst in every land.

    Let us praise the Word incarnate,
    Christ, who suffered in our place;
    Jesus died and rose victorious
    That we may know God by grace.
    Let us sing for joy and gladness
    Seeing what our God has done;
    Let us praise the true Redeemer,
    Praise the One who makes us one. Amen.

Ephesians 1:18–21

  • I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,  19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.
  • 20 He exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens—  21  far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
helpful notes on Ephesians 1:18–21

For yourself pray:

  • That God by his Spirit teaches you today through his word and through your experiences

For others pray:

  • That God opens up the eyes of your church's heart to know the hope to which he has called you

A song to listen to and ponder, as time allows:
