daily reading 28.2 (Romans 16:5–7)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

Jesus, lead us on, Till our rest is won.
And although the way be cheerless
We will follow, calm and fearless.
    Guide us by your hand.
    To our fatherland.

If the way be drear, If the foe be near,
Let not faithless fears o’ertake us.
Let not faith and hope forsake us,
    For through many a woe
    To our home we go.

When we seek relief From a long-felt grief,
    When temptations come alluring,
    Make us patient and enduring.
    Show us that bright shore
    Where we weep no more.

Jesus, still lead on, Till our rest is won.
    Heavenly Leader, still direct us,
    Still support, control, protect us,
    Till we safely stand
    In our fatherland. Amen.

Romans 16:5–7

  • Greet my dear friend Epaenetus, who is the first convert to Christ from Asia.
  • 6 Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you.
  • 7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews and fellow prisoners. They are noteworthy in the eyes of the apostles, and they were also in Christ before me.
helpful notes on Romans 16:5–7

Paul, Aquila, and Priscilla

For yourself pray:

  • That God sends you to someone whom you can encourage in Christ

For others pray:

  • That God spreads the good news of the kingdom of the Son he loves in Ireland

A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 99 (YouTube, duet, "The Lord reigns")
