daily reading 28.1 (Romans 16:3–5a)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

Jesus, lead us on, Till our rest is won.
And although the way be cheerless
We will follow, calm and fearless.
    Guide us by your hand.
    To our fatherland.

If the way be drear, If the foe be near,
Let not faithless fears o’ertake us.
Let not faith and hope forsake us,
    For through many a woe
    To our home we go.

When we seek relief From a long-felt grief,
    When temptations come alluring,
    Make us patient and enduring.
    Show us that bright shore
    Where we weep no more.

Jesus, still lead on, Till our rest is won.
    Heavenly Leader, still direct us,
    Still support, control, protect us,
    Till we safely stand
    In our fatherland. Amen.

Romans 16:3–5a

  • Give my greetings to Prisca and Aquila, my coworkers in Christ Jesus, 4 who risked their own necks for my life. Not only do I thank them, but so do all the Gentile churches.
  • 5 Greet also the church that meets in their home.
helpful notes on Romans 16:3–5

Paul, Aquila, and Priscilla

For yourself pray:

  • That God gives you the chance to encourage an old friend today

For others pray:

  • That your whole congregation (not just staff!) thinks and acts like "coworkers"

A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 98 (YouTube, duet, "Come let us sing ...")
