daily reading 25.3 (Romans 14:22–23)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for this week:

For the fruit of his creation, Thanks be to God.
For his gifts to every nation, Thanks be to God.
For the plowing, sowing, reaping, Silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth’s safe-keeping, Thanks be to God.

In the just reward of labor, God’s will be done.
In the help we give our neighbor, God’s will be done.
In our worldwide task of caring For the hungry and despairing
In the harvests we are sharing, God’s will be done.

For the harvests of the Spirit, Thanks be to God.
For the good we all inherit, Thanks be to God.
For the wonders that astound us, For the truths that still confound us,
Most of all that Love has found us, Thanks be to God. Amen.

Romans 14:22–23

  • Whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves.
  • 23 But whoever doubts stands condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith, and everything that is not from faith is sin.
helpful notes on Romans 14:22–23

For yourself pray:

  • That you take to heart all of God's dire warnings

For others pray:

  • That God gives your congregation a new heart to spread his good news in your area

A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 89 (YouTube, soloist with piano, "Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.")
