daily reading 25.1 (Romans 14:15–18)
5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024
Our opening prayer for this week:
For the fruit of his creation, Thanks be to God.
For his gifts to every nation, Thanks be to God.
For the plowing, sowing, reaping, Silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth’s safe-keeping, Thanks be to God.
In the just reward of labor, God’s will be done.
In the help we give our neighbor, God’s will be done.
In our worldwide task of caring For the hungry and despairing
In the harvests we are sharing, God’s will be done.
For the harvests of the Spirit, Thanks be to God.
For the good we all inherit, Thanks be to God.
For the wonders that astound us, For the truths that still confound us,
Most of all that Love has found us, Thanks be to God. Amen.
Romans 14:15–18
- Do not destroy, by what you eat, someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore, do not let your good be slandered, 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
- 18 Whoever serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and receives human approval.
