daily reading 14.2 (Romans 8:9–11)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for today:

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
    Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once, upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
    Our salvation hath procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky he’s king, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as his love, Alleluia!
Praise Him, all you heavenly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia! Amen.

Romans 8:9–11

  • You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.
  • 10 Now if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
  • 11  And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you.
Helpful notes on Romans 8:9–11

For yourself pray:

  • That God gives you more and more new life forever by the Spirit of his Son

For others pray:

  • That God spreads the good news of the kingdom of the Son he loves in Croatia

A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 52 (YouTube, pianist with choir, "The name of the Lord is our hope.")
