Our opening prayer for today:

    Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
    Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
    Who did once, upon the cross, Alleluia!
    Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!

    Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
    Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
    Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
    Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!

    But the pains which He endured, Alleluia!
    Our salvation hath procured, Alleluia!
    Now above the sky He’s king, Alleluia!
    Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!

    Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
    Praise eternal as His love, Alleluia!
    Praise Him, all you heavenly host, Alleluia!
    Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia! Amen.

  

Romans 8:5–8

  • For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit.
  • 6 Now the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.
  • 7 The mindset of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit to God's law. Indeed, it is unable to do so. 
  • 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
