daily reading 16.2 (Romans 8:37–39)

5-days-a-week through Romans and the letters Paul wrote from Rome in 2024

Our opening prayer for today:

    Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
    The strife is o’er, the battle done;
    Now is the victor’s triumph won;
    Now be the song of praise begun. Alleluia!

    Death’s mightiest powers have done their worst,
    And Jesus has his foes dispersed;
    Let shouts of praise and joy outburst. Alleluia!

    On the third morn he rose again
    Glorious in majesty to reign;
    Oh, let us swell the joyful strain! Alleluia!

    He closed the yawning gates of hell;
    The bars from heav’n’s high portals fell.
    Let songs of praise his triumph tell. Alleluia!

    Lord, by the stripes which wounded you,
    From death’s sting free your servants, too,
    That we may live and sing to you. Alleluia!
    Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!Amen..

Romans 8:37–39

  • No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
  • 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Helpful notes on Romans 8:37–39

For yourself pray:

  • That God gives you confidence in all your troubles that with all believers you are more-than-a-conqueror

For others pray:

  • That God gives hope to someone you know going through disastrous physical, emotional, or legal troubles

A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:

  • Psalm 62 (YouTube, duet, "My soul waits in the silence for you, O Lord, alone.")
